Are you curious how much money I make by blogging? Well, you are in luck because I give full disclosure to my readers. I think this is a great way for my readers to partner with me and make this a success. Because I don’t just blog for the money, I also include monthly goals. My main goal is providing a great resource for others to learn how to manage their finances. If I make money while doing that, I’m all for it. I really do see this as a partnership with my readers and that is why I also host giveaways throughout the year.
These are the goals that I set at the beginning of October to reach by the end of October:
- Alexa Ranking: 100,000; actual: 87,401
- RSS subscribers: 60; actual: 75
- Twitter followers: 150; actual: 177
- Facebook Fans: 35; actual: 54
On my yearly goals page, I established that another goal to get a mozrank of 3 or higher. I successfully accomplished this one during October. I now have a mozrank of 4.53. Wahooo! If you aren’t familiar with mozRank, it is a ranking system that judges the credibility of your site based basically on how many other credible sites link to you. It is on a scale of 1-10, so I am really happy.

You can also download the Alexa toolbar to help me with my Alexa Ranking. Every time you visit with the toolbar installed in your browser, it helps lower my ranking.
I want to keep making progress with the site. Here are my goals for November.
This month has been really successful considering how long this site has been around. As you will see below, I have decided to lump together my advertising efforts. This protects the privacy of some of my advertisers, while also still giving you the juicy details.
Advertising (including: adsense, affiliate, and private): $161.24
Staff Writing: $30
Online Freelancing: $8
Total Income: $199.24
This month was a great month. I am not certain it is going to continue to increase just yet, but it is a good indication that earning a decent side income with this blog is possible. I have done really well with advertising this month.
I also started a carnival submission service. This is under the online freelancing category. If you are a personal finance blogger and hate the hassle of submitting to carnivals each week, email me (20sfinances *at* gmail *dot* com) for more information. I offer a great service at a reasonable rate. You can also check out my Corey for Hire page, which details the various services that I offer.
